AI for structural health monitoring

Electrical impedance sensing, AI and robotic inspection for concrete structures and bridges.

Bridges and concrete buildings age, and inspections are expensive and infrequent. This line of work explores how embedded sensors, AI models and robotic inspection can provide continuous, data-driven information on the condition of the built environment.

Monitoring platform for concrete structures

  • An AI-enabled monitoring platform for concrete structures, published in Sensors (Cosoli et al., 2024).
  • A monitoring platform based on electrical impedance and AI techniques to enhance the resilience of the built environment, published in ACTA IMEKO (Mancini et al., 2024).

Predictive maintenance of bridges

A new inspection system for the predictive maintenance of bridges was presented at Ital-IA 2024 (Galdelli et al., 2024). I was the corresponding author.
