Science, education and regulation policy
Data-driven studies of EU research funding, Nobel Prize success, greenwashing regulation and emerging technologies.
How do research funding, institutions and regulation influence what science and industry produce? This line of work applies quantitative methods to European policy questions, in collaboration with the think tank EUAbout in Brussels.
Studies
- Nobel Prize success. The role of institutional affiliations, network dynamics and EU framework programmes as drivers of Nobel Prize success, published in the Journal of Economic Studies (Bregoli et al., 2026).
- Greenwashing regulation. The vulnerabilities of fashion companies under the EU Directive 2024/825 on greenwashing (D’Adda et al., 2024).
- Engineering workflows. An adoption framework, barriers and roadmap for graphic facilitation in engineering, published in IEEE Engineering Management Review (Govindarajan et al., 2022).
- Humanoid robots. A public-facing article on how to shape the era of humanoid robots (Zivlak et al., 2025).
Engagement
- In August 2025, an Erasmus+ research mobility grant took me to EUAbout to work on AI and public policy, including an educational visit to the European Union institutions in Brussels.
- Since 2026, I have been a member of the ICT Working Group of the IEEE European Public Policy Committee.
